Preliminary applications for participation in the tender for the construction and operation of Paphos Marina in the Potima area of Kissonerga are accepted until 22 January 2025. The opportunity was announced in an official announcement by the Cyprus Ministry of Tourism .
According to Andreas Dimitriadis , Chairman of the Association of Large Developers, the project includes:
- Marina for 1,000 vessels ;
- Commercial and residential construction opportunities ;
- Additionally, infrastructure for receiving cruise ships .
The Cyprus Ministry of Tourism intends to announce a tender under the DBFOT (Design, Build, Operate, Transfer) concession model , which provides for design, construction, operation and handover of the facility . The operator who wins the tender will enter into a contract with the Government of Cyprus .
The tender will be held in two stages :
- Registration of potential participants.
- Reception applications from pre-selected candidates.
After the preliminary applications have been submitted, consultations will take place between government agencies and companies that have expressed interest. This will allow for taking into account important technical and commercial parameters that will make the tender attractive to investors .
Project implementation schedule
- April – July 2025 – announcement of the official tender;
- end of 2026 – conclusion of an agreement with the winner of the competition;
- 2029 – completion of construction and start of operation of the marina.
