Berengaria Hotel in Prodromos, one of Cyprus’ most famous mountain resorts, is progressing according to schedule. BBF has taken on the task of restoring the “Pearl of Prodromos” to its former glory by the end of 2027.
The project commenced with the first phase of renovation works in October 2021, which was completed in June 2022. The second phase started in April 2023 and was successfully completed in December of the same year. The third phase is currently ongoing, which began in June 2024 and is scheduled for completion in May 2025.
The entire project is scheduled for completion in late 2027, with the fourth and final phase set to begin in June 2025. All work is being carried out on schedule and in line with the building’s cultural heritage preservation requirements.
To date, significant restoration work has been carried out, including cleaning and restoring the hotel’s stone façade and strengthening the concrete structures. Phase three will see the removal of the existing roof, covering approximately 1,500 square metres, and the installation of a new roof in keeping with the hotel’s historic design.
Upon completion of the Berengaria project The Hotel will not only be restored to its former glory, but will also become a modern facility with a high level of comfort. It will become a landmark and attract tourists as a unique mountain destination, contributing to the development of the tourism industry in Cyprus.
The head of the Prodromos Community Council, Neophytos Neophytou, noted the cultural significance of the hotel for the region and stressed the importance of the project. Thanks to close cooperation with the authorities, it was possible to preserve the historical status of the building and ensure its restoration in accordance with the norms for the protection of historical heritage.
