The Ministry of Tourism and the Deloitte Triton Paphos Marina Consortium have signed a 30-month agreement to provide consulting services for organizing the tender process for a new marina in Paphos.
The main goal of this contract is to develop a tender procedure that will select a strategic partner to implement the project using the DBFOT method (Design, Build, Finance, Operate, Transfer).
Deputy Minister Kostas Koumis emphasized that an important phase of the project has begun, which will contribute to improving the tourist infrastructure and appeal, not just for Paphos but for all of Cyprus.
According to the plans, the marina is set to be built in the Potima area, near the village of Kissonerga. The investor will have the option to choose between constructing a marina with a capacity of 1,000 yachts along with residential and commercial facilities, or a combined project that also includes infrastructure for cruise ships.
The contract duration is 30 months, with the project announcement expected 9–12 months after the contract signing. The completion of all works is planned by the end of 2026.
In the coming months, negotiations with representatives from both public and private sectors will be conducted to finalize the project parameters.
Koumis noted that the Paphos marina project lays the foundation for the further development of maritime and yachting tourism on the island, targeting affluent tourists.
