The main focus of the Polis Chrysochous Municipality will be the development of a strategy for the integrated development of both the city itself and the 13 surrounding communities, Mayor Yiotis announced. Papachristofi , noting that all decisions will be made taking into account the unique characteristics of each area, as well as with an emphasis on improving the quality of life of local residents.
The administration plans to build a new hospital and create a university branch in the region. Special attention will also be paid to the development of transport infrastructure: the project plans to build pedestrian and bicycle paths to ensure traffic safety and create opportunities for sports for both local residents and tourists.
The mayor noted the importance of attracting European funds to finance and implement a number of projects aimed at creating theme parks and nature routes. These projects will help to highlight the historical and cultural value of each settlement. Particular attention will also be paid to sports facilities: both the modernization of existing ones and the construction of new facilities aimed at popularizing new sports are planned. For coastal communities where there are no organized beach areas, appropriate conditions will be created, and the construction of new breakwaters to protect the coastline is also envisaged. The plans also include improving access to natural attractions such as canyons, waterfalls and religious monuments.
The municipality intends to restore the ability of residents to build private homes on agricultural land, as well as introduce new programs for the registration and naming of roads and paths, which will allow for more active use of land resources. Development in the areas of ecology, health care and education will be a priority, which will ensure a sustainable future for the region.
Papachristofi stressed that an official request will be submitted to the Ministry of Health for funding for the construction of a new hospital, and proposals will be sent to the government to establish a branch of the university in the region. In parallel, parks will be renovated and smart technologies will be introduced to improve the energy efficiency of the city, including the expansion of the smart lighting system and the installation of solar panels to power buildings and street lighting.
The mayor also noted that the administration’s goal is to transform Polis Chrysochous into a modern, dynamically developing center that will attract tourists and contribute to the further development of the region. In their work, they will be guided by the principles of effective management, good organization and reasonable distribution of financial resources to achieve the set goals.
