A major construction project at the historic stadium in Nicosia is proceeding at an intense pace. This is the site of an old GSP that is undergoing major renovation and regeneration.
The project contractor is a joint venture between Cyfield Construction – Cyfield Development JV, which has released photos showing the construction progress.
Reconstruction began in November 2021, and the project is expected to be handed over in November 2023.
The development project budget reaches €20 million. Co-financing comes from the THALEIA program for 2021-2027. The project will be co-financed by the EU Cohesion Fund, the state budget and the Municipality of Nicosia within the program period 2021-2027.
The redevelopment of the old GSP site includes, among other things, the creation of a city square, green spaces and recreation areas, as well as the construction of an underground parking with a capacity of 554 cars.
Among them, there will be 33 parking spaces for the disabled, 28 parking spaces for people with limited mobility, and 12 charging sites for electric vehicles, designed for 108 electric vehicles, will be built.
It is noted that low trees and other vegetation will be planted above the underground parking lots. The new park will include, among other things, a cafe, a restaurant, a bookstore, an art gallery, an amphitheater, a plaza, a small waterfall and a water wall.
