January 2021 was marked by a decrease in the number of building permits issued. This was announced on Wednesday by the Statistical Service of Cyprus. So, in comparison with January 2020, there is a decrease of 8.2%. The total cost of building permits fell by 10.3%.
The number of residential properties increased by 0.9%, while the total area of permits decreased by 13.4%.
In January, district administrations and municipal authorities issued 494 building permits. Their total cost amounted to 160.1 million euros, and the total area – 143.6 thousand square meters. m. Through the issued permits, the construction of 702 real estate objects is provided. Building permits are a leading indicator of future activity in the construction sector.
