Cyprus is developing into a regional center for business and investment

31.03.2022

Cyprus has many advantages as an investment destination which is constantly attracting more and more international organizations. An extensive network of bilateral investment treaties with about 30 countries and a wide range of quality financial and business services – legal, tax, accounting and investment, as well as low cost of installation and operation are among the main reasons that make our country so popular. All of the above, combined with numerous tax advantages, makes it an ideal location for foreign companies.

The signs of the future are promising. The European Commission’s winter forecasts, released just last month, predict a 4.1% growth for the Cypriot economy. In a statement, the Ministry of Finance actually noted that the real GDP of Cyprus in 2021 has recovered dynamically and that the losses from the 2020 health crisis will be fully recovered. Features that enhance confidence in the economic environment and reinforce the government’s resolve to support sustainable development through a commitment to prudent fiscal policy and a focus on productivity, trade and investment.

The promotion of Cyprus as an international business and investment destination to the high-level business community will be driven by IMH and Invest Cyprus in early April 2022 in Israel.

The conference will present the benefits of living and working in Cyprus and will provide an overview of the Cypriot economy, its tax and legal framework, as well as an analysis of the current state of financial services. It will also introduce the participants to the important advantages of the island for investment. The opening speech will be made by the President of Invest Cyprus, Yannis Matsis, who will talk about Cyprus as an international business center. Following this, George Karatzias, Vice President of the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CCP), will present the public with a roundtable discussion of the main reasons why Cyprus is a safe and cost-effective resettlement jurisdiction.

Cyprus is also an ideal place for investment funds, and this fact will be highlighted during the conference in a separate thematic block. The central idea will be introduced by Andreas Giasemidis, President of the Cyprus Investment Funds Organization (CIFA), who will pass the baton to renowned speakers for a roundtable discussion.

But how innovative is Cyprus? Chief Research Fellow for Research and Innovation, Dr. Nicholas P. Mastrogiannopoulos will take the stage to showcase the country’s technological progress and its journey towards digital reform.

Taking it a step further, Marios Tanousis, Deputy CEO of Invest Cyprus, will explain in detail why technology companies should settle on the island or partner with local agencies. After all, the transformation of Cyprus into a regional center of innovation and technology is one of the strategic goals of the state. In this direction, the government is intensively strengthening and supporting the ecosystem in order to develop, become more modern and extroverted, as well as produce innovative value-added products and services, with a direct positive impact on the economy and society of Cyprus.
