A significant annual increase in area and the cost of building permits occurred between January and February 2022.
According to the Statistical Office, the number of building permits issued by municipal and provincial governments in February 2022 reached 774. The total value of these permits reached 228.1 million euros, and the total area reached 189.7 thousand square meters. With these permits, it is planned to build 901 housing units.
Between January and February 2022, 1,309 building permits were issued compared to 1,150 in the corresponding period of the previous year, representing an increase of 13.8%. The total value of these licenses increased by 19.2% and the total area by 16.1%. The number of residential units increased by 12.9%.
Building permits are an important indicator of future activities in the construction industry, concludes the Statistical Service.
