Tourism revenue reached €835.7 million in the first half of 2022, a significant increase compared to the corresponding period in 2021, according to a report released on Monday by the Statistical Office of Cyprus.
Compared to the first half of 2019, a record year for Cypriot tourism, there is a decrease of 16.7%.
According to the report, which used data from a survey of travelers, tourism revenue grew by 115.5% year-on-year in June 2022 to reach €292.7 million .
This is more than double the revenue generated in June 2021, when revenue was capped at €135.8 million .
For the period January to June 2022, tourism revenues are estimated at €835.7 million , compared to €258.8 million for the corresponding period in 2021.
The amount was even more limited during the same period in 2020, when tourism revenue reached 122 million euros and the pandemic severely disrupted the sector in March of that year.
Finally, the statistical office noted that in June 2021, 372,324 tourists visited Cyprus.
