Delays in issuing building permits remain the main barrier to resolving the residential property crisis in Cyprus. This was stated by the Association of Developers after a meeting with Limassol District Governor Yannis Tsouloftas, emphasizing that expediting the process is essential to increasing supply.
Association President Yannis Misirlis and board members participated in the discussion. The main topic was systematic licensing delays. It was noted that in some cases, the time required to obtain permits exceeds the time required to construct the facility itself.
Yannis Misirlis identified this factor as key to the exacerbation of the crisis, as it prevents the market from responding quickly to demand. According to him, accelerating licensing is key to strengthening the residential real estate supply and ensuring the sector’s stable operation.
To address this issue, the Association calls for close cooperation between local government organizations ( EOAs ) and industry professionals. Only dialogue will enable the implementation of practical solutions for sustainable urban development and the timely launch of new one-, two-, and three-bedroom residential properties.
