15.06.2023

As part of yesterday’s meeting at the Ministry, Limassol Mayor Nikos Nikolaidis raised the issue of speeding up procedures for a number of pending urban planning projects, especially the coastal road, with Interior Minister Konstantinos Ioannou.

As Mr. Nikolaidis stated, in the presence of representatives of government departments and services, an overview was made of the progress of various urban development projects in the city of Limassol, such as the second phase of Franklin Roosevelt Avenue and the necessary infrastructure projects in the area between the marina and the new port, known as the Coastal Road .

“We have emphasized – and the Minister has given appropriate instructions – that the necessary actions from the competent government departments and services for very important infrastructure projects for the city of Limassol should be accelerated,” he said, noting that, especially regarding the Coastal Road, “we are urgently order the question of accelerating the creation of infrastructure”.

In particular, he continued, there are plans to inject large private investments into the Coastal Road, so the creation of appropriate infrastructures is essential to ensure that they are available before the upcoming development of the area.

“The creation of appropriate infrastructure such as the construction of roads, embankments in the sea, sewerage, water and electricity supply, the movement of ship carpenters (karnagio) should be considered as a top priority, not only supporting the development of Limassol, but also the development of the economic performance of our region,” added He.
