Planning permission was recently granted for the construction of a National Sports Center for the Cyprus Football Federation (CFP) in Kornos. Construction is scheduled to begin by the end of 2025 and be completed in early 2028.
After overcoming all obstacles and fulfilling the necessary requirements, planning permission was granted in July 2024 for the construction of the “Home of Cypriot Football”, which was one of the first statements made by the President of the Cyprus Football Federation, Giorgos Koumas, when he took office. Next steps include obtaining planning permission by mid-2025 and preparing tender terms.
The sports center will meet international standards and include a central stadium for 1,500 spectators for matches of small teams, three auxiliary training grounds, a guest house for athletes and auxiliary facilities (storage rooms, locker rooms, a doctor’s office, a gym, conference rooms, etc.). A specially designed synthetic turf field will also be built, on which, in particular, children’s league games will be held.
It will be possible to hold conferences, seminars and training programs directly related to the KOP, national teams, Coaching School, refereeing, etc.
Construction will be financed by the UEFA Hat-Trick and FIFA Forward programs, as well as by the Federation.
