The Spinning Tower is a new engineering marvel for the 21st century launched by renowned architect Santiago Calatrava in 2005 after the completion of the Twisting Torso in Malmö, Sweden.
An impressive as well as extremely functional architectural trend that creates the feeling that the building is “growing”, rotating and “rising” towards the sky. Since then, 34 rotating towers have been built or are expected to be completed, ranging in height from 84 to 632 meters, in 25 countries on five continents.
In this enviable and exclusive list, Cyprus also appears with its impressive winding towers in the harbor of Ayia Napa, which will be more than 100 meters high and will be clearly visible from land and sea.
In particular, the East Tower is located in the commercial center of the wharf, offering a lively and bustling environment for residents and visitors, while the West Tower, expected to be built at a later stage, is located in a quieter harbor area.
The just-completed project of epic proportions will become a reference point not only on the island, but throughout the southeastern Mediterranean. It received a double award at the world famous European Property Awards 2021-2022 with two successful entries in the mixed category.
Planning for the overall development of the project was undertaken by the award-winning SmithGroup (with a presence in architecture and engineering since 1918), while the design of the towers was entrusted to the respected Cypriot offices of J&A Philippou Architects and AJ Pericleous Structural Engineers.
The first (east) tower is expected to be ready in May 2023. At over 110m, the tower – the tallest building in the area – reached its peak and all frame construction work was completed in the second week of April, while work continues both inside and inside the building. outside the tower.
Set in an iconic complex of the magnitude of Ayia Napa Marina, it’s no surprise that the East Tower attracted a lot of interest from investors and buyers from the outset, as 90% of the apartments have already been sold. The project as a whole will contribute to the revitalization of the area, turning Ayia Napa into the pearl of the Eastern Mediterranean.
