Project The Icon in Cyprus, an impressive 125 meter high, 21 storey building by Imperio , was awarded in the Residential Lighting Design category at the international LIT Lighting competition Design Awards 2023. This award recognizes the innovative and sustainable architectural lighting design of this outstanding building designed by Sigala-lighting from Athens.
The building The Icon was inspired by the unique shape of a diamond and its lighting creates a unique diamond sparkle effect. This jewel became the impetus for the creation of a sustainable multi-storey building, illuminated by indirect reflected light, which blends perfectly with the night sky of Limassol .
Lighting the facade of a building emphasizes its architectural forms and materials, providing effective illumination of the various objects inside The Icon , including apartments and restaurant La Caleta with infinity pool.
The innovative lighting design was developed with environmental sustainability and Class A energy efficiency in mind . The developers emphasized indirect lighting, various shades of warm white light and innovative Electron SA fixtures to ensure minimal light pollution and protect night views and dark skies.
Architectural lighting designer Hara Sigala noted that The lighting Icon combines artistic expression with scientific principles, and expressed joy at receiving an award from the international platform LIT Lighting Design Awards .
