According to a report from the Cypriot Statistical Office (Cystat) released on Friday, the building materials price index for July 2022 recorded a slight increase of 0.09 percent compared to the previous month.

In addition, the service reported that during this time the indicator reached 134.51 units (according to 2015 = 100).

Compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, the index reflecting the change in the cost of materials incurred by the contractor increased by 17.52% year on year.

Finally, for the main categories of goods, an increase was recorded in metal products (21.5%), minerals (16.35%), wood, insulation, chemical and plastic products (16.17%), mineral products (15.76%) . as well as electromechanical products (11.9%).

NPLs accounted for 11.4% of all loans at the end of April 2022, according to data released by the Central Bank of Cyprus on Friday.

The total value of non-performing loans during this time was 2.93 billion euros, compared to 2.92 billion euros in March 2022.

In addition, total lending increased from 25.55 billion euros at the end of March to 25.74 billion euros at the end of April.

At the end of April 2022, loans to households amounted to 10.63 billion euros, and loans to non-financial companies amounted to 13.07 billion euros.

Non-performing household loans in April 2022 amounted to 1.47 billion euros, while loans from non-financial companies amounted to 1.18 billion euros. NPLs worth €281 million belonged to other financial companies.

The non-performing coverage ratio reached 45.4% at the end of April 2022.

Finally, the total value of restructured loans at the end of April was €3.32 billion , of which €1.42 billion remains classified as non-performing loans.

According to a report published this week by the Cyprus Statistical Office (Cystat), building permits increased by 3.6% year on year between January and May 2022.

The report says that 3,272 building permits were issued between January and May this year, compared to 3,157 in the corresponding period of the previous year, indicating a 3.6% increase.

However, the total cost of these permits decreased by 6.8% year on year, while the total area also decreased by 9.4%. At the same time, the total number of residential units decreased by 9.4%.

In addition, the statistical service stated that the number of building permits issued by municipal authorities and district administrations during May 2022 amounted to 761.

The total value of these permits reached 248 million euros, and the total area was 224,800 square meters, with the number of building permits corresponding to the construction of 893 housing units.

Total government employment increased marginally by 0.3% in July 2022 compared to the same month of the previous year.

According to a report released this week by the Statistical Office of Cyprus (Cystat), total government employment increased by 161 people, up 0.3% from last year, to a total of 53,118 people.

The permanent staff decreased by 697 people, or 2.6%, from 26,599 to 25,902 people.

Temporary staff increased by 824 people, i.е. by 4.6 percent, and reached a total of 18,722 people compared to 17,898 in July of the previous year.

Growth was observed in all categories of personnel, with the exception of law enforcement officers, whose number decreased by 1.9%.

The largest increase was in the public education staff, which increased by 2.3 percent, primarily due to a 9.9 percent increase in temporary staff.

Compared to June 2022, there was a decrease in all categories of personnel, again with the exception of the personnel of law enforcement agencies, which decreased by 0.3%.

The largest reduction was seen among public education workers (2.2 percent), reflecting a 5.8 percent reduction in temporary staff.

The Cyprus Stock Exchange (CSE) ended Friday, August 12 with a profit.

The overall Cypriot stock market index stood at 69.01 points at 13:09 during the day, reflecting an increase of 0.21% from the previous trading day.

The FTSE/CySE 20 index stood at 41.36 points, up 0.34%.

The total transaction value was 6,663 euros.

As for the sub-indices, the main, alternative and hotel indices rose by 0.21%, 0.38% and 0.81% respectively, while the investment companies index remained stable.

Bank of Cyprus (+1.41%), Logicom (no change), Louis PLC (-5.19%) and Petrolina Holdings (+1.85%) attracted the most investment interest.
