Renovations, parks, museums and new office space are among the development projects of the Limassol Municipality that are underway.
At least five of the city’s key projects are under construction, and another eight are in the bidding or planning stages.
The projects reviewed are based on a report by the Limassol Municipal Council for the period 2017–2023.

Reconstruction of roads in the areas of Agios Spyridon and Omonia
The project involves the reconstruction of roads leading to green spaces and schools, and includes bicycle paths, landscaping and parking spaces.
Green Neighborhoods will prioritize people and focus on creating a suitable environment where residents can travel safely and pleasantly on foot or by other modes of transport.
Park on Gauguin Street in Zakaki – New large ecological complex of Limassol
Work has begun on restoring the largest city park after the Square.
The development project in the commercial center of Limassol will include dense plantings of trees and greenery, landscaping, children’s play areas, event spaces, pedestrian paths and will be accessible to everyone, but will also be convenient for people with disabilities. It is expected that the restoration of the park will create a pole of attraction and communication for the very large residential area of Zakaki .
Redevelopment of the historical center of Agia Fyla
One of Limassol’s most historic areas is gaining its own identity, enhancing the quality of life for its residents.
The project is divided into four stages. The first phase of work extends from the Chapel of St. John and around the Church of Panagia Chrysafiliotissa and ends at the western end of the church parking lot.
Carnival Museum in Limassol
Limassol Carnival Museum is located in the Panos Municipal Cultural Center Solomonidis ”, where the Cyprus Theater Museum is also located, as this is considered a very good combination that will increase the attendance of both museums.
GSO Sports History Museum
It will house historical football memorabilia and exhibits related to classic sports, with the aim of creating an innovative digital library that will facilitate their study.
The goal is for the general public to understand the value of classical sports and football, as well as to popularize the sport among people of all ages.
Reconstruction of Lady Road Mile – a pearl of the environment
One of Limassol’s most popular beaches and one of the most important water areas in Cyprus is being upgraded, giving the area new life.
The site’s redevelopment plan aims to improve the accessibility of the beach to the public, end the anarchic and unacceptable situation that has prevailed for many years, and protect the very important waterlands that exist in the area.
Park in the Apostolou Andreas area next to the AETOU stadium
A highly aesthetic, modern public space for recreation and entertainment, self-expression, creativity and functionality, which will be characterized by respect for the environment and friendliness to all groups of residents and, of course, people with disabilities.
The park project includes tree plantings, namely 200 trees and 250 shrubs, an organic connection of pedestrian traffic between the streets of Sperkiou – Sillef – Ioannina, as well as recreation areas, parking spaces, and a bicycle shed.
Cultural shelter in the Epaminondas quarter
Municipal and cultural infrastructure will be built in this quarter, as well as a large parking lot.
The goal is to address the shortage of housing for cultural institutions, exhibition space for private archives and collections, and studios for urban artists.
Extension of the Municipal University Library in the GEVO building
Creation of an extension to the Municipal University Library in the adjacent GEVO building. The design has already been completed and the extension will, among other things, house exhibition spaces for archival materials.
Urban redevelopment of Agios Nikolaos
The total length of the project is about three kilometers and includes landscaping work to widen sidewalks, create temporary parking spaces, landscaping through tree planting, bike paths, parking spaces and the creation of a skate park.
New municipal offices in the building on Saripolu Street
Creation of new office space to house municipal services in a building on Saripolu Street .
Intelligent parking management system
Intelligent system for managing street and off-street parking. The system covers approximately 1,500 on-street parking spaces in wider areas of the city center within the municipal boundaries of the Limassol Municipality .
It also includes approximately 876 off-street parking spaces located along the waterfront and in various areas of the city center.
Redevelopment of Heroes Square
Another huge project in Limassol is close to completion after the signing of a contract for the development of construction plans.
The aim of the project is to highlight the importance of the square through historical and social facts, architectural and monumental elements that characterize this area and have played an important role in the development of the city until today.
