The Larnaca Sewer Authority has launched a tender for construction contracts C20A and C20B, which will alleviate the chronic problems of flooding and stormwater accumulation that have plagued the city for years.
The SAL said in a statement that “The Council has proceeded to call for tenders for two major construction contracts C20A and C20B. These are projects that include the construction of a rainwater catchment network west of Agii Anargyroi Avenue and the area around Alexandros Panagoulis Avenue in Larnaca.”
It is expected that “specific projects will alleviate the chronic problems of flooding and rainwater accumulation that plague the city of Larnaca. The total budget cost of the two projects is 4,020,000 million euros and they are funded by the European Union Political Cohesion Fund by 75% and by the Larnaca Sewerage Board by 25%.
Meanwhile, SAL and the Municipality of Larnaca “started a small rainwater project in the Larnaca marina area. The project consists of the installation of a 126 m downpipe, which is an addition to the existing drainage network.
It adds that “the project is expected to eliminate rainwater accumulation problems occurring on Gregory Oxentiou Street, issues that will be finally resolved with the completion of the Larnaca Port/Wharf project.”
