The Larnaca Sewer Authority (SAL) is in the final stages of tendering for the C20D contract, which concerns a storm sewer system in the area of Agios Lazaros – Occular, with a total estimated cost of 1.6 million euros and a construction period of ten months.
In a written statement, SAL said that “the project will be co-financed by European Structural Funds by 75% and will immediately alleviate the problem of flooding in one of the main problem areas of the city.
Contract C20D, which is one of the many flood protection projects under study/in progress in the city of Larnaca, is for the construction of approximately 2.6 km of central downspouts of varying diameters from Φ300k. up to Φ1000 thousand, in the area of Agios Lazaros – Occular”.
It adds that “the rainwater system will serve the catchment upstream and downstream of Faneromenis Avenue in Larnaca. In particular, the contract area includes the streets of Adonidos, Deucalion, Aphroditis, Michalaki Paridis, Apolloniou Kitios, Onisillos, Georgiou and Katolis, Palaipafu, Solon, Amafustos, Hippocrates, Pasteur, Flemiga, October 28, El Alamein, Rimini, Sparta, Stalingrad and part of Okchular.
It is noted that “immediately after the completion of its construction works, the facility can be put into operation, since most of it is connected to the existing SAL system, and the rest is connected to a closed channel on Faneromenis Avenue in three places.”
