The project to improve streets and squares in the center of Larnaca will begin in October and will last 24 months. More than 7 million euros have been allocated for its implementation. The main goal of the project is to create a convenient and modern urban environment that will facilitate comfortable movement and increase safety for all residents and visitors of the city.
Larnaca Mayor Andreas Viras stressed that this project will be an important step in the overall strategy for the development of the city. The renewed center of Larnaca will become an attractive place for new businesses and tourists.
The works include reconstruction of roads with widening of sidewalks, installation of new drainage systems, and renewal of utility networks. It is planned to use marble and granite for paving streets, installation of modern lighting and recreation areas with awnings, as well as information boards for the convenience of residents and tourists.
The main objective of the project is to create comfortable conditions for pedestrians and cyclists, which will make the center of Larnaca safe and accessible for everyone, including people with disabilities. The project also aims to improve the quality of “green” areas and restore the historical and architectural significance of the area.
The project is implemented within the framework of the Coherence Policy Programme “THALEIA 2021-2027” and is financed with the support of the European Union. The works are carried out by Miltiades Neophytou Civil Engineering Contractor & Developments Ltd, based on a design by the architectural bureau Loucaides & Philippou Architects Engineers.
