Limassol Municipality has announced the start of the renovation of Heroes’ Square and the surrounding streets. The €5.5 million project, with a completion date of 18 months, aims to enhance the historical and cultural significance of the area, combat the effects of climate change such as flooding, and improve the quality of life through the creation of eco-friendly infrastructure. The project also includes the development of pedestrian areas and the connection of the square with other important points in the city.

Project objectives
The reconstruction is part of the Limassol Municipality’s Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SPAK) . The project includes the expansion of the pedestrian network and the integration of cultural facilities, which is being implemented within the framework of the THALEIA 2021-2027 programme, co-financed by the European Union.
Limassol Municipality informs residents about the schedule of works and the affected streets. Possible changes will be communicated in a timely manner, and temporary inconveniences will be compensated by improving the urban environment.

Organization of the movement
- The streets indicated in the plans will be closed to traffic during the work.
- Pedestrians will be able to use specially organized passages.
The implementation of this project will significantly improve the infrastructure of the area and increase its tourist and cultural attractiveness. The creation of modern and environmentally friendly areas convenient for residents and guests of Limassol will be another step in the development of an ecological urban environment.
