Updated GSP
The site of Nicosia’s historic stadium, the old GSP, is getting a new look. Work on the redevelopment of the site began in November 2021 and, according to the schedule, the commissioning of the facility is expected in November 2023.
The redevelopment of the old GSP site includes, among other things, the creation of a square, green spaces and recreation areas, as well as the construction of an underground parking with a capacity of 554 cars .
In addition, 33 parking spaces for the disabled, 28 parking spaces for people with reduced mobility, as well as 12 electric vehicle charging places for 108 cars will be built.
The new park will include, among other things, a cafe, a restaurant, a bookstore, an art gallery, an amphitheater, a plaza, a small waterfall and a water wall.
Cyfield Joint Venture Construction-Cyfield Development has carried out a radical renovation and refurbishment of the old GSP and the budget for the monumental project for Nicosia reaches 20 million euros.
New Cyprus Museum
Foundation construction began on January 23. The cost of the museum, which will be built on the site of the old Nicosia hospital, is 144 million euros.
In New Cyprus The Museum will have more than 6.5 thousand exhibits, which will be divided into three separate, spatial and meaningful parts in such a way as to reveal the long history of Cyprus, as well as its inextricable connection with the sea element.
It will also include the necessary state-of-the-art maintenance facilities, workshops, a library, and areas for events and recreation.
Stately Legal Building Service
New Legal building Service will be built in the center of the capital, in the Holy area Confessors . The cost of the new building is 48 million euros.
It is noted that the Department of Public Works in April 2023 announced a tender for the construction of a building with a minimum total area of 23,300 m², of which 15,300 m² belongs to the superstructure, and 8,000 m² belongs to underground premises on two levels.
Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics
The new building of the Institute of Neurology and Genetics of Cyprus (INGC), located next to the existing facilities, close to the Kolokasidis roundabout , is under construction. This expansion makes a significant contribution to the modernization of the healthcare and education sector in Cyprus, as the new building will include research and diagnostic laboratories, office and training facilities, service and support areas, underground and outdoor parking, and an outdoor amphitheater.
The complex will consist of a seven-story building, of which: two basements, one basement, one attic and three floors. It should be noted that the building will be connected to the existing facilities of the Institute through a semi-underground tunnel at the ground floor level.
New Hall of the Municipal Council
The Municipal Council and the Hall of Events are part of the New Nicosia City Hall complex. The work was carried out by Iacovou Brothers (Constructions) Ltd.
