The number of building permits issued by municipal authorities and district administrations in January 2022 increased by 8.3% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, according to data released on Thursday by the Statistical Office of Cyprus. The total number was 535 people.
The total cost of these permits increased by 3.4% and the total area by 10.1%. The number of residential units decreased by 8.8%. The total value of these permits reached 165.5 million euros, and the total area – 158.0 thousand square meters. These building permits provide for the construction of 640 housing units.
Building permits are a leading indicator of future activity in the construction sector.
