The number of building permits dropped significantly in 2022 compared to the previous year.
According to the Statistical Service, the number of building permits issued by the city and district administrations in December 2022 was 618.
The total cost of these permits reached 213.2 million euros, and the total area – 187.1 thousand square meters. These building permits provide for the construction of 863 housing units.
Meanwhile, 7,604 building permits were issued between January and December 2022 compared to 8,164 in the corresponding period of the previous year, representing a decrease of 6.9%. The total cost of these permits remained at the same level as the previous year, while the total area decreased by 6.3%. The number of residential units decreased by 6.3%.
According to the Statistical Service, a building permit is a leading indicator of future activity in the construction sector.
