New infrastructure projects for cities and rural areas for 2025-2027

The Medium-Term Financial Framework 2025-2027 provides for significant investments in infrastructure development in both urban and rural areas. The total amount of these projects is 310 million euros. Of this, 165 million euros will be allocated to improving living conditions in cities, and 145 million to rural areas.

Major Infrastructure Projects for Urban Areas

The programmes planned for the urban areas include seven key projects with a total budget of €79.4 million. These projects aim to improve the transport network, enhance safety and improve the quality of life of Cypriots:

  1. Construction and expansion of transport highways .

One of the largest projects is the construction of Argyroupolei Avenue (from the GSP junction to Tseriou Avenue ) and the widening of Ippokratous Avenue and part of the southern extension of Tseriou Avenue in Strovolos and Lakatamia . The total budget for this project is 18.5 million euros.

  1. Construction of a road of primary importance from the Makarios Sports Complex to the new Nicosia- Limesos road via Alexandroupoleos , Pithona, Iraklis and Stavros Avenues :: 14.5 million euros.
  2. Improvement of Tseriou Street in Strovolos and Lakatamia ( phases A and B ) : €12.8 million.
  3. project in key urban areas, including the construction of some flood protection structures in the Greater Limassol area and the construction of flood protection structures in the Kamares area of Larnaca : €10.5 million.
  4. Larnaca-Dhekelia Coastal Road Improvement (Phase C): €8.8 million.
  5. Improvement of the road connecting Deryneia with Sotira : €8.8 million.
  6. Improvement of the main street of Kato Deiter (stage B): 5.5 million euros.

Projects for rural areas

The Medium-Term Financial Framework for 2025–2027 also includes projects aimed at developing rural areas . These projects are provided with funding in the amount of approximately €194 million, of which €45 million will be allocated for the implementation of projects in 2025 and €135 million for the period 2025–2027.

  1. The reconstruction and construction of public buildings in rural areas will amount to 5.8 million euros in 2025 and 16.6 million euros for the period 2025-2027.
  2. Additional projects in rural areas , such as improving access and upgrading infrastructure, will be financed between €5 and €7 million annually.
  3. Programmes to revitalise mountain and remote areas are also included in the plan, with €19 million allocated for these projects in 2025 and €57 million for the period 2025-2027.
  4. Subsidies for local councils in free areas will amount to €18 million in 2025 and €54 million for the period 2025-2027.
  5. Financial assistance for residents living at an altitude of over 600 metres or in remote areas will amount to €8 million in 2025 and €24 million for the period 2025-2027.
