The construction work on the new Cyprus Museum, which will be located in the very center of the capital, is the state’s most important investment in cultural infrastructure. Its value reaches 144 million euros.

The New Cyprus Museum will have a total area of 30,000 sq.m. including basements. It is built on an area of 40 000 m2, in the area of the old general hospital, opposite the House of Representatives.

When will the project be completed?

The work was carried out by the joint venture ” Iacovou – Cyfield (M) Joint Venture ”, with the contract including a two-year maintenance period and a provision for ten years of maintenance as agreed.

The project is scheduled for completion in mid-2026, with the contract providing for a two-year maintenance period, as well as an additional provision to agree on a 10-year maintenance period.

This museum will house one of the largest collections of Cypriot archaeology. He is expected to contribute to the international promotion of Cypriot history and culture.

The museum will include permanent exhibition halls with an area of 5,500 sq.m. , housing approximately 6,500 antiques, 1,000 m2 of periodic exhibitions, areas for educational programs, maintenance workshops with an area of 2,000 m2, underground parking, antique warehouses with an area of 5,000 m2, and a restaurant. , cafeteria, library, auditoriums, offices, art store and extensive landscaping of exterior spaces.

The improvement work will also include a public square with a fountain, which will highlight and enhance the new image of the town centre.

It is worth noting that the museum’s attendance is estimated at 300 people per day, of which 90% are tourists, and the museum’s staff will be 150 people.
