“The multi-year successful claim creates the conditions for the revitalization of the SOPAZ area ,” states the Municipality of Nicosia, recalling that recently, with the new announcement of the Mountainous, Critical and Disadvantaged Areas Revitalization Plan, the Ministry of the Interior included 15 new roads in the critical area of Panagia, which were constant requests from the municipality and residents.
At the same time, after years of complaints, the Department of Public Works explained that it will soon announce a project to upgrade Famagusta Avenue from the SOPAZ roundabout to Larnakos Avenue , which will help reduce traffic congestion and solve the problem of flooding. In addition, work will begin in July to replace sewer pipelines to the Mias Milia treatment plant with a length of 4.2 kilometers. The parts of the pipeline to be replaced are located in the “dead zone” in the Agios area Dometios , occupied Nicosia, and from the checkpoint on Markou Botsari Street in the industrial area of Nicosia.
“Thanks to the above and in combination with the purchase and future use of the SOPAZ production area in 2019, the municipality creates the conditions for the development of a large and important area of Nicosia,” notes the Nicosia Municipality in its statement.
