Massive construction projects near Trikomo

01.06.2023

Advertisements for major new construction projects in the north of the island – focusing on Trikomo – sparked heated discussion on both sides of the watershed, and many were stunned by the scale and pace of change.

“It is like building a new city,” the Turkish Cypriot shared his impression. He warned, however, that the pace of construction of the new buildings did not seem to match the basic infrastructure work needed to support this massive development.

A Greek Cypriot woman who recently visited Apostolos Andreas passing by Trikomo (Iskele) was also shocked. “I haven’t been there for three years, so it was very noticeable,” she said.

Construction is actively underway around Long Beach (not to be confused with Long Beach , California), developers and construction companies are promising many resorts, residences, and complexes to be ready soon.

One of the most influential players in the development of this area seems to be the Noyanlar group of companies. Its website is available in Russian, German, Persian (Farsi), English and Turkish, which is mostly in line with the demographics of property buyers in the north of the island.

Their website presents a new project called Bellagio, which will be built in Trikomo – “There are only 281 apartments in the Bellagio project. Studios and 1+1 apartments, as well as penthouses and 1+1 studios where you can dream with a unique view of the Long Beach.

However, already completed projects look much more modest. Earlier it was reported that in the first four months of this year, 48% more foreign tourists arrived in the northern part of the island than in the same period last year.

In the first four months of 2023, about 464,000 people visited the north, most of them from Iran, Russia and Germany.

Data from the Cyprus Government Office (PIO) shows that between January and April 2023, about 13,520 Iranians, 13,042 Russians and 9,370 Germans visited the country.

“A significant proportion of Iranians and Russians bought property on the island and settled in the Trikomo area,” the report says.
