At the beginning of 2024, construction of a multifunctional ecological park will begin in the ” Panerka ” area of the Livadia municipality, which is estimated to be completed in three years and will cost approximately 2 million euros.
According to the mayor of Livadia Marios Armenis , “the municipality has started announcing a tender for the provision of consulting services for the creation of an ecological park, the tenders ended on August 4, and in a few days the winner of the tender will be confirmed. It is expected that the construction of the park will cost approximately 2 million euros, of which 1.5 million will be allocated by the European Cohesion Program “THALEIA 2021-2027”, and the remaining amount will be covered by the municipality of Livadia.”
The land on which the park will be built is gravel and is called ” Panerka ” territory. “The municipality’s goal is to build a green oasis that will include sports fields to make it a place for sports, socializing and recreation for citizens. The park will have grounds for mini-football, volleyball, tennis, a skate park, mini-golf, a large playground, a bicycle path, walking and sports paths along the perimeter, exercise equipment, parking spaces, a cafeteria and bathrooms,” he noted.
Answering a related question, Mr. Armenis said that “a large artificial lake, a botanical garden, a nature museum, etc. will be created in the park. This park will be unique, since there is nothing like it in the eastern region of Larnaca . “We hope,” he concluded, “that tenders for the park’s construction work will be issued early next year, 2024, and the schedule suggests that construction will be completed in early 2027.”
