Work on the improvement and reconstruction of Trikoupi Street in the center of Nicosia is in full swing. The Nicosia Municipality has published photos showing the progress of the work: various buildings are in the process of being restored and decorated with façades. A total of 52 buildings will be improved and the process is ongoing as the work has not yet been completed.
However, the change in the facades of buildings is already noticeable.
Several buildings on Trikoupi Street are in the process of being restored and decorated with façades to highlight their significant architectural value. Trikoupi Street is expected to undergo drastic changes as part of the overall Creative Business District Redevelopment project, which is part of the wider planning of the Integrated Sustainable Urban Development Strategy and the Nicosia Center Site Plan.
The project aims to improve the urban environment and solve traffic problems, including facilitating the movement of people with disabilities, in order to attract and create new creative activities in the city center.
The technical works are aimed at the general reconstruction of the territory defined by the facades of buildings, consisting of public and private roads (a section of Trikupi street with the beginning of narrowed passages), as well as public and private sidewalks.
Recall that at the beginning of 2023, an agreement was signed between the municipality of Nicosia and the consortium A.M. Andronikou Ltd and Tasos Hatzittofi Ergoleptics Ltd for contracts related to the Creative Industries District Renovation Project – Façade Maintenance/Rehabilitation and Road Rehabilitation – Underground Utilities – Phase A1. The contract amount is EUR 3,878,627.00 plus VAT. Construction work is expected to be completed in 16 months.
