Larnaca’s infrastructure projects for the development of the city worth more than 64 million euros

Within the framework of the THALEIA 2021-2027 program, works worth more than 64 million euros are being carried out in Larnaca.

The program is financed by the European Union, the state budget and local authorities. The aim of the projects is to improve the quality of life, develop the economy and increase the attractiveness of the city.

” THALYA 2021-2027″ is a seven-year public investment plan with a total budget of €1.8 billion, of which €969 million is EU contributions and the remaining €842 million comes from the state budget .

“ THALYA 2021-2027” brings together under its umbrella important projects throughout Cyprus that meet both the goals and priorities of the European Union and the development needs of Cyprus.

In Larnaca, the programme “promotes public investment covering more than 20 projects with a total budget of approximately €220 million, projects that transform the daily lives of citizens, offering multiple benefits to local society and the economy as a whole.

For his part, Larnaca Mayor Andreas Viras stated that in an era of challenges, constant changes and developments, the EU and state support within the framework of “ THALYA 2021-2027” strengthens local government and provides an opportunity to shape a dynamic future for the city. This concrete support proves that with a vision, timely and proper planning, European funding can be transformed into projects that enhance the attractiveness of Larnaca as a modern and environmentally friendly city.

 

Largest projects

Technical School of Green Professions in Aradippou

Budget : 39 million euros.

Expected completion date : January 2028.

The new educational centre will train specialists in the field of environmental development, environmental management and green technologies, filling a gap in the country’s existing secondary technical education.

Reconstruction of the Pattichion Park area

Budget : 6.6 million euros.

Expected completion date : December 2025.

The project includes upgrading the infrastructure, planting new plants, creating a botanical garden, a small open space for events, an active entertainment area, a café-restaurant and a children’s playground.

Reconstruction of city squares and streets

Budget : 11.4 million euros.

Expected completion date : October 2026.

The work includes improving urban infrastructure, adaptation for people with disabilities, and upgrading drainage and lighting systems.

Tsiakkilero Multifunctional Park

Budget : 2.3 million euros.

Expected completion date : September 2026.

The new park includes recreation areas, sports grounds, bike paths, playgrounds and space for cultural events.

Reconstruction project of Acropolis Square, Alki Square and adjacent streets in the city center

Budget : 4.6 million euros.

Expected completion date : April 2026.

The project aims to reconstruct the Acropolis and Alki (road intersection) squares and adjacent streets and includes Louki Akritas, Orfeos streets and parts of Gladstonos, Konstantinou Kalogeras and Grigoris Afxentiou avenues.

New municipal nursing home

Budget : 6 million euros.

Expected completion date : December 2025.

The modern building with a capacity of 48 people will provide comfortable living conditions for the elderly and high-quality care for them.

 

Investments under the THALEIA 2021-2027 program play a key role in the development of Larnaca. The new image of the city, improved infrastructure and green technologies will help Larnaca take a leading position among modern cities in Cyprus.
