The project for the reconstruction of the square of Agios Mamas in the Trulli area of the Municipality of Aradippou is estimated at over two million euros and has already been approved for co-financing by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development. The proposal was submitted within the framework of the “Rural Development Programme 2014-2020” and the “Strategic Plan of the Common Agricultural Policy 2023-2027”.
The reconstruction plan includes the modernization of the central square using modern and durable materials. The works include:
- modernization of the road network within the project,
- laying underground communications,
- installation of urban equipment – benches, lighting fixtures and trash bins,
- planting trees and creating green spaces to improve the natural landscape.
Particular attention is paid to the formation of a comfortable space for residents and guests of the district. A stage for cultural events will be built, which will help to revive the social and cultural life of the district.
Special emphasis is placed on the improvement of the area around the old and new Church of St. Mamas. The work will be aimed at improving accessibility for pedestrians and people with disabilities.
According to Mayor Aradippou Christodoulou Partou, the reconstruction of Agios Mamas Square will be a project that will not only improve the quality of the urban environment, but will also help preserve the traditional appearance of the area, highlight the historical value of the buildings and attract new visitors.
The updated infrastructure is expected to improve the comfort level of residents, enhance cultural activity and contribute to the further development of the Trulli area.
