€1.78 billion is the total amount of development projects that have been completed or are underway and announced.

Major projects are in the works, including the new Cyprus Museum on the site of the old Nicosia hospital and the Nicosia-Palaikhori highway.

Current projects

Presenting the budget of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works, the competent Minister Yiannis Karousos mentioned the main ongoing projects, the total amount of which reaches 695 million euros, among them:

Astromeritis-Erychos Highway in the amount of 88.6 million euros.

Highway Polis-Paphos worth 87 million euros.

The expansion of the Nicosia perimeter is 72.3 million euros.

Traffic light system on the Larnaca-Dhekelia and Deryneia-Sotiras roads.

In tenders

Development projects worth €392.85 million are in the tender process. Among others:

The new €144 million Cypriot museum will be announced by December 2022.

In February 2023, the placement of housing in the amount of 71.4 million euros will be announced.

The construction of the Nicosia-Paleihori motorway at a cost of 71.4 million euros will be announced in February 2023.

Current projects

In addition, major projects expected to be announced in 2023, totaling €605.43 million, include:

New center for migrants in Limnes in Menogia worth 96 million euros.

A complex of buildings that will house the three ministries of the interior, energy and transport, worth 90 million euros.

The new building of the Legal Service.

Pissouri sedimentation project.

The second phase of the expansion and reconstruction of the perimeter of Nicosia.

According to the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, the Resilience and Recovery Plan also includes the introduction of intelligent transport systems, the creation of an infrastructure for recharging electric vehicles and the regulation of the related market with ten dual fast charging points and 1,000 recharging points by 2026.

At the same time, sustainable mobility projects will be implemented and electrification is being promoted in the public sector through the purchase of electric vehicles.
