Members of the Cyprus Association of Major Investment Projects are promoting between 18 and 20 projects with a total value of more than 8 billion euros and which are expected to employ more than 8-9 thousand employees. This was stated by the President of the Association Andreas Demetriades following the Meeting of the Board of Directors of the Association with President Nikos Christodoulides on Thursday at the Presidential Palace. Andreas Demetriades said that these projects include marinas, golf courses, technology parks, large tourist complexes, hotels, medical centers, etc.
During the almost two-hour meeting, various issues related to the members of the association and the economy as a whole were discussed, such as improving the image and prestige of Cyprus abroad. They also discussed tax and urban planning reform and industry specific issues, with the President of the Republic showing particular interest in the problems faced by members of the Association, ways to attract foreign investment and facilitating the implementation of large projects in Cyprus.
When asked whether he agreed with the government’s actions to restore the country’s prestige abroad, the President of the Association replied that ALIP members fully agree and have undertaken obligations to the President of the Republic that they will help in all directions to “clear” the name of Cyprus and improve their country. ana in the eyes of investors. “It is in the interests of everyone, including businessmen themselves, to have a good image that attracts real productive investments to Cyprus,” he emphasized.
Among the issues raised by the association were specific ways to attract investment and delays seen in urban planning matters, such as the approval of revised local plans and the finalization of the policy statement.
