Construction is in full swing on the new Cyprus Museum, a major cultural project that will beautify the site of the old Nicosia Hospital. The value of the state’s most important investment in cultural infrastructure reaches 144 million euros.
A detailed study of the project and tender documents were prepared by the architectural bureau “Theoni Xanthi XZA Architects” following an architectural competition coordinated by the Department of Public Works.

Focus on history and culture
The new museum will house one of the largest collections of Cypriot archeology, which will contribute to the international promotion of Cypriot history and culture.
The project will include 5,500 sqm of permanent exhibition space . which will house approximately 6,500 antiques, 1,000 m2 of periodic exhibition space, educational program areas, 2,000 m2 of conservation workshops, underground parking spaces, 5,000 m2 of antiquities storage, restaurant, cafeteria, library, auditorium, offices, art shop and extensive landscaping outer spaces.
The beautification work will also include a public square with a fountain that will highlight and highlight the new, improved look of the city centre.
