In Cyprus, the lowest housing cost burden was registered in rural areas (1.3 percent), while the corresponding rate in urban areas was 3.5 percent, according to a Eurostat report released on Thursday, well below the European average.
According to the same report, in 2021 the burden of housing costs was higher for residents of large urban centers than for residents of rural areas in all EU Member States, with the exception of Bulgaria, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania and Romania.
