Important information and emergency numbers in Cyprus

Important information and emergency numbers in Cyprus

Cyprus is a safe and welcoming country, where the emergency response and government services system is organized according to European standards. Whether you’re a resident or a tourist, it’s important to know the basic help numbers for emergency assistance, contacting the police, hospital, fire department, or up-to-date information. All emergency services in Cyprus operate 24 hours a day and are available in Greek and English.

Universal emergency number

112 is the single pan-European emergency number, valid throughout the Republic of Cyprus. Calls to this number are free from any mobile or landline phone, even without a SIM card or with a negative balance.

The operator takes the call, determines the caller’s location, and connects them to the appropriate service— police, ambulance, or fire department. In some cases, an interpreter may be available. 112 is the primary number for all emergencies, including road accidents, fires, accidents, and health threats.

Emergency services

Dial 199 directly to the police station. Calls are accepted 24/7, regardless of region. When calling, please clearly state the location, type of incident, and, if possible, the license plate number or a description of the suspects.
