The Environmental Protection Agency has approved the creation of a 34,000 m 2 municipal park open to use, of recreational and cultural interest. Located in the municipality of Aradipou, in the province of Larnaca, the park will include, among other things, sports facilities. The estimated cost of the project is 3.5 million euros, and the implementation period is 36 months.
What will it include?
The proposed project concerns the creation of a municipal recreation and culture park. The park is expected to have an area of about 34,000 sq.m. and will include the following:
- Open air theater with 1750 sq.m. and 290 sq.m. respectively.
- Restaurant 250 sq.m.
- Offices and warehouses 84 sq.m.
- Futsal court 878 sq.m , basketball court 612 sq.m. , outdoor skateboard area 600 sq.m.
- Office and warehouse building 84 sq.m.
- Sanitary premises 18.3 sq.m.
- Parking spaces and roads 8900 sq.m.
- Various playgrounds (children’s playgrounds, etc.) 200 sq.m.
- Covered terraces 224 sq.m.
It is noted that the total area of indoor and outdoor structures is 13,800 sq.m.
The position of the environmental department
The EPA did not consider it necessary to consult with the competent authorities about the specific project or its potential environmental impact and gave its consent to the construction.
