The financial assistance of the Republic of Cyprus to Turkish Cypriots increased by 1.4 million euros in 2021.
Finance Minister Konstantinos Petrides, who briefed the Cabinet on Wednesday about the bailout, said it stood at €40.4m in 2021, up by € 1.4m from 2020, when the bailout was €39m.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Finance, financial assistance to support Turkish Cypriots in 2021 was provided by the government mainly in the following sectors: €16.1 million for pensions, €6.1 million for the renovation and maintenance of Turkish Cypriot mosques. , monuments and property, EUR 1.6 million for drinking water, EUR 1.5 million for minimum income security, EUR 1.3 million for NHS costs and EUR 1.0 million for education.
It is noted that over the past five years (2017-2021), financial assistance to Turkish Cypriots amounted to 199.4 million euros.
