Deposits in the banking system of Cyprus in January 2022 decreased by 341.8 million euros, which was the first net (excluding changes caused by reclassification, exchange rate and other adjustments) reduction in ten months, according to data published by the Central Bank of Cyprus.
The annual growth in January amounted to 5.8%, and the total volume of deposits amounted to 51.3 billion euros, the CBC said in a statement.
In addition, total loans showed a net increase of €107.1 million, registering net growth for the second consecutive month, with outstanding loans amounting to €28.5 billion.
According to the CBC, liquidity in the banking system in January 2022 amounted to 22.8 billion euros.
