The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides, announced the implementation of more than 60 projects worth over €180 million for the Larnaca region . The announcement was made during a meeting with representatives of Larnaca municipalities and communities in Voroklini .

Improving infrastructure
- Larnaca Port Development . Agreement with The Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund SA (HRADF) is planned for April. This decision involves optimizing the use of the port and its modernization.
- Larnaca Marina . Dredging and maintenance of infrastructure. The relevant studies have already been approved and a tender has been published.
- Larnaca Airport Reconstruction . Work has begun to expand and improve the terminals. The new agreement concluded by the state provides significant benefits, including savings of up to 300 million euros.
Education and Innovation
- Establishment of the School of Marine Science, Technology and Environmental Development . The €16.4 million project is being implemented in cooperation with the Municipality of Larnaca . The first students will begin their studies in September 2027.
- Entrepreneurship and Innovation Hub : A space for young professionals to open in Aradippou , offering affordable workspaces and support for start-ups .
- Construction of new school buildings and large-scale modernization of existing schools (such as Drosia Gymnasium and Evryviadio Gymnasium) with a total budget of 40 million euros.
Ecology
- Modernization of the waste management complex in Kos . Gradually improving the infrastructure to meet modern standards.
- Larnaca oil refinery site . The project aims to provide environmental rehabilitation and create new opportunities for the region.
- Reducing energy and irrigation costs . Supporting farmers and livestock breeders with an emphasis on ecological development of agriculture.
Tourism and cultural heritage
- Preservation and promotion of historical sites . Restoration of the medieval fortress of Larnaca , the archaeological sites of Khirokitia and the chapel of Pyrga . Total budget: €600,000.
- Creation of a museum space . Renovation of the museum in Larnaca Fortress to host conferences and events within the framework of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2026.
Health and public services
- Larnaca Hospital Renovation . Reconstruction of the infrastructure and creation of a rapid response clinic for emergency care. The project budget is 16.4 million euros.
- Improving transport infrastructure . Building new roads and improving existing connections.
These initiatives aim to improve the quality of life of Larnaca residents , strengthen the economy and create a greener and more modern urban environment. The development of infrastructure, education, tourism and healthcare will form the basis for long-term growth and new opportunities in the region.
