Cooperation between public and private structures in the real estate sector of Cyprus

Public-private sector cooperation was the focus of an event organised by the Cyprus Developers Association on 3 June 2025. It was attended by President Nikos Christodoulides, MP Fotini Tsiriou, Minister Constantinos Ioannou, as well as representatives of political parties, businesses and civil society organisations.

President Christodoulides noted that the real estate sector remains an important pillar of economic growth, contributing to the development of entrepreneurship and strengthening the socio-economic stability of the country. In his speech, he expressed gratitude to the Cyprus Developers Association for its contribution to the development of the sector and for facilitating the implementation of government initiatives.

Chairman of the Cyprus Developers Association, Yiannis Misirlis, stressed that Cyprus is on a path of stable and dynamic growth, which is reflected in both the economy and society. Among the key initiatives, a proposal was made to create a modern legal framework for the official recognition of the profession of developer.

In addition, Misirlis noted the strategic importance of Cyprus’s accession to the Schengen area, which will strengthen the country’s position in the European arena and create new opportunities for international cooperation.

The Cyprus Developers Association has awarded architects Andreas Fotiades, Marios Santamas and Nikos Santamas for their contribution to the establishment of the institution of horizontal separation of property in Cyprus . In 1957, they designed and built the AMANI building, the first residential complex in Cyprus with separate title deeds. This marked the beginning of the era of home ownership on the island, allowing Cypriots to purchase their own homes without having to own land.

The Developers Association also made a financial contribution to the “Association of Parents and Friends of the Cyprus Children’s Oncology Clinic”, emphasizing the importance of corporate social responsibility.
