Building permits issued in Cyprus in the first eleven months of 2021 rose by 15.9% year on year, according to data released by the Cyprus Statistical Office (CyStat) on Thursday.
In particular, according to a press release from CyStat, in November 2021, 715 building permits were issued by municipal authorities and district administrations.
The total cost of these permits reached 197.7 million euros, and the total area – 194.6 thousand square meters. m, respectively, the report says.
According to the press release, 7,386 building permits were issued between January and November 2021, up from 6,375 in the same period last year, representing an increase of 15.9%.
The total cost of these permits decreased by -11.1%, while the total area increased by 1.2%.
At the same time, with building permits issued, it is planned to build 918 housing units, and the total number of housing units in the period from January to November 2021 reached 9,466 units, an increase of 10.8% compared to 8,540 units in the same period last year.
It is noted that building permits are an important indicator of future activity in the construction sector.
