Building permits showed an increase of almost 18% year on year in the first 9 months of 2021. At the same time, the cost of permits decreased by 4.6% over the year.
Today, the Statistical Service of Cyprus published new data. They show that the number of building permits issued by municipal governments and provincial governments from January to September was 6,008 compared to 5,106 in the same period last year. Growth is recorded at 17.7%. The number of housing units increased by 13.8%.
A total of 1.87 billion euros worth of building permits were issued. Compared to the same period in 2020, there is a 4.6% drop. At the same time, the total area of objects increased by 7.6%.
By province, the largest annual percentage increase in the first 9 months was recorded in Larnaca with 44%, followed by Paphos with 27.3%, Limassol with 13.7%, Nicosia with 10.17% and Famagusta with 3.25%.
Moreover, the number of permits issued in September was 768, showing an increase of 11.3% year on year. The total financial volume of issued permits amounted to 206.2 million euros (a decrease of 0.63%), and the total construction area – 210.7 thousand square meters.
According to statistics, it is planned to build 907 residential properties with the help of these permits.
