Building permits issued in Cyprus between January and November 2022 decreased by 5.4% year-on-year, while their total cost increased by 1.2%, reflecting an increase in construction costs amid soaring inflation and disruptions in the supply chain.
According to data published by the Cyprus Statistical Office (Cystat), the total number of building permits issued in January-November 2022 has decreased to 6,986 compared to 7,386 in the corresponding period last year.
Residential building permits fell 8% year-on-year to 4,767 from 5,180, while non-residential building permits fell 5.1% year-on-year to 1,088 permits from 1,146. January-November 2022 decreased by 3.8% year on year. Civil engineering projects rose 13.9% to 475 from 417, while road construction rose 22.4% year on year.
