According to a report published this week by the Statistical Office of Cyprus, in August 2022, the building materials price index rose by 16.69% compared to the corresponding period in 2021.

According to a report published this week by the Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC), non-performing loans (NPL) stood at €2.92 billion in June 2022, showing a slight decrease of €34 million from the previous month.

According to the report, the NPL index stood at 11.2% in June compared to 11.4% in the previous month.

Net non-performing loans (excluding restructured loans that remain non-performing based on the EBA directive) fell by 65 million euros to 2.05 billion euros in June.

In addition, total restructured loans reached EUR 3.27 billion in June, compared to EUR 3.3 billion in the previous month, of which EUR 1.41 billion are still classified as NPLs, compared to EUR 1.43 billion in last month.

Accumulated reserves remained virtually unchanged in June at €1.48 billion, of which €1.35 billion were NPLs, with an NPL coverage ratio of 46.2%.

According to the central bank, corporate non-performing loans fell to 1.16 billion euros in June from 1.19 billion euros in the previous month, of which 0.89 billion euros belong to small and medium-sized enterprises, compared to 0.93 billion euros. in June.

The coverage index for corporate problem loans was 61 percent, and for small and medium enterprises – 64 percent.

Total non-performing household loans reached €1.43 billion in June from €1.47 in the previous month, with a coverage ratio of 33%.

The Cyprus Stock Exchange (CSE) ended Tuesday 20 September with a marginal gain.

The overall Cypriot stock market index stood at 74.36 points at 13:46 during the day, reflecting an increase of 0.03% from the previous trading day.

The FTSE/CySE 20 Index stood at 44.64 points, up 0.04%.

The total transaction value was 96,243 euros.

As for the sub-indices, the main index and the index of investment companies rose by 0.48% and 3.51%, respectively.

The alternative index fell by 0.29%, while the hotel index remained unchanged.

Bank of Cyprus (no change), Logicom (+1.18%), Salamis Tours (-1.01%), Hellenic Bank (+1.27%) and Demetra (+4.08%) attracted the most investment interest.
