The Borrower Protection Association released a statement on Tuesday asking for meetings with House Speaker Annita Demetriou, Central Bank Governor Konstantinos Herodotou, and political parties to discuss possible measures to mitigate skyrocketing inflation and the high cost of living.
The association explained that these ongoing problems are eating into borrowers’ income, which in turn could affect their ability to repay their loans.
“For our part, we will start contacting everyone to seek mitigation measures and any other possible relaxations that can be implemented,” the association said in a statement.
According to the association, the request to meet with the Speaker of the House, the Governor of the CBC, and political parties was put forward to “all of us join forces for the benefit of borrowers, households, businesses, and the greater good of society.” “We emphasize this to everyone, borrowers do not beg , they rightly demand what they should receive, and they will receive it.”
The association noted that they have already scheduled a meeting with the deputy chairman of the ruling Disi party, Harris Georgiades, to be held on October 14.
