The fire department has been on its feet since noon due to a number of fires that have broken out in various parts of Cyprus.
The fire department is fighting in the Tseriou area in Nicosia, while a fire broke out in Pano Pyrgos in Tilleria.
As for the fire near Lageya, it has been partially brought under control and, according to the relevant report from the fire department, has burned five hectares of dry grass, wild vegetation and olive trees.
The fire was stopped before it spread to the wooded area, and ground forces remain on the scene to contain the fire until it is finally extinguished.
An aircraft operating in Laheia left the scene and rushed to the rescue in Pano Pyrgos Tellirias, where the fire department is assisting with two manned fire engines to support the Forestry Department.
A strong fire force is working to put out the ongoing blaze.
Meanwhile, the fire in the Tseri region is still going on, burning three hectares of dry grass, wild vegetation and olive trees.
Four fire trucks of the fire department are involved in extinguishing the fire, as well as agricultural tractors from the municipality of Tseri to protect the houses. At the same time, a new fire broke out in the Tseri region, and firefighting forces are intensifying.
