According to a report published this week by the Statistical Office of Cyprus (Cystat), the average gross monthly earnings of employees in the first quarter of 2022 was 2019 euros, compared to 1891 euros in the first quarter of 2021. This represents a 6.8% increase in gross monthly earnings compared to last year.
The service noted that in the first quarter of 2021, measures taken by the Department of Labor to combat the coronavirus pandemic resulted in below-average gross monthly wages.
The reason for this is that the figures only take into account wages paid by the employer, and not additional funds provided by the ministry.
In addition, the average gross monthly earnings in the first quarter of 2022 are seasonally adjusted at €2,114. This reflects a 1% increase from the previous quarter.
