The construction output index reached 227.99 units in the fourth quarter of 2023 (base year 2015 = 100), an increase of 9.2% over the fourth quarter of 2022, according to data released by the Statistics Service on Friday.
By project type, the fourth quarter of 2023 saw an 8.4% increase in the building production index and a 14.6% increase in civil engineering projects compared to the corresponding quarter in 2022.
For the period January-December 2023, the overall index registered an increase of 7.6% compared to the corresponding period in 2022. An increase of 8.3% was recorded in the buildings index and 3.1% in the civil engineering projects index.
During the same period, the construction product price index reached 138.29 units (base year 2015 = 100), registering a slight increase of 0.8% compared to the third quarter of 2023. Compared to the fourth quarter of the previous year, the index increased by 2.7%.
By project type, the fourth quarter of 2023 saw a 1.4% increase in the building production index and a 6.9% increase in civil engineering projects compared to the corresponding quarter in 2022.
For the period January-December 2023, the overall index registered an increase of 4.8% compared to the corresponding period in 2022. An increase of 1.6% was recorded in the buildings index and 16.6% in the civil engineering projects index.
