Blenem Company Enterprises Ltd plans to upgrade an extension to the existing building to create a rehabilitation center for the elderly and a nursing home, and install a biological wastewater treatment plant . The renovation will take place in a building that has been abandoned since the early 90s and was intended for a hotel complex.
The proposed project, which has received approval from the Environment Agency, is located in the municipality of Peyia , in Paphos.
What will the project include?
According to the Department of the Environment, the proposed development will consist of two basements, a ground floor and two above ground floors. The proposed coverage and building area will be 694.56 sq.m. and 1612.81 sq.m. respectively .
In this case, open areas (for example, gardens, parking lots, roads, etc.) will occupy about 10,080 sq.m. , of which about 7,000 sq.m. belong to landscaped areas , of which 1078 sq.m. these are public green spaces provided by the existing building and are expected to remain as they are.
In addition, the proposed project includes the construction of an underground biological treatment plant with a capacity of 20 m2 per day and a treated water storage tank with a capacity of 200 m2. It is expected that this plant will meet the needs of the proposed project and treat all liquid waste that will be generated during its operation.
According to the environmental study, which was presented in 2023, the estimated cost of the project reaches 2 million euros, while the work is expected to be carried out within two years after obtaining the necessary permits.
The development area of the proposed project falls within the holiday home planning zone (P2). Access to the proposed project’s development is via Vatudion Street , to the west of the neighborhoods.
